Cobb Corn Co.

There was a family acquaintance back home on the farm by the name of Lester Cobb. There is a gristmill in the corner of the layout at Hillton Junction that I call the Cobb Corn Co., Lester Cobb Proprietor, whose motto is “When you deal with Les Cobb—you get more corn”. (I could not resist the opportunity for a chuckle.)

He also handles other feed grains like wheat, oats, soybeans, etc. This rural business embraces memories from my youth as feed mills similar to this were scattered all along rural railroad operations early in the 20th century.  Memories include the stake body farm truck, the large covered loading dock of the feed mill, the railroad spur and a box car. Even though my spur track is on the wrong side of the mill.
