Old Car Club

Here we have a look at the last remaining bit of green space among the tall buildings in Holden City. The natural beautification committee managed to save this small area from the commercial development people. They are even talking about planting a few trees! Today we see how some retired folks are using the space for fun and relaxation to enjoy their hobby of old cars. What a stark contrast from the conveyor work and dump trucks of last week.

The 50/50 (50 over 50) Car Club (consisting of members over 50 years old with a car that is at least 50 years old) is having a gathering to show their shined up vehicles on a sunny Sunday afternoon at the Holden Green Park in down town Holden City. The owners bring them out only in good weather. The photographer shot this picture of members who are proud of their cars as they have them all lined up on the grass for ‘show and tell’.

Several manufacturers are represented with favorites of old gray heads. There is a red VW with chrome trim around the windows, a rear view mirror, chrome tail pipes and an in-tact running board!! It looks better than the ones I drove.  Remember folks this is HO scale 1/87 actual size. There are a couple 57 Chevys-one is a convertible, a 57 Ford with the hood up to show the engine, a Karman Ghia, a 53 Cadillac convertible, a 50 Dodge when it was a big car, a couple Lincolns,  a 51 Mercury and lots of spectators having an enjoyable time.
